PranaShanti has been offering Yoga Teacher Training programs since 2008. We have offered over 40 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Programs in the Hatha and Kundalini Yoga traditions.
Our 200-hour programs provides a solid foundational background in yoga so that you can confidently teach holistic, all-levels classes in a clear and compassionate manner. You will deepen your experience of postures and meditation, expand your understanding of yogic and western anatomy, yoga philosophy, and Ayurveda, and you will refine your communication and listening skills all while being part of a supportive community that fosters inquiry, creativity and lifelong learning.
PranaShanti’s 300-hour programs gives one the opportunity for further personal transformation and a deepening of practice and knowledge.
We believe yoga is for everyone and teaching opportunities happen everywhere – on and off the mat. PranaShanti graduates take their yoga studies into all avenues of teaching whether on the mat in a yoga studio room, to the workplace, to school, or sharing one-on-one with a friend or family member.
Our Yoga School and Yoga Teacher Training programs are approved by Yoga Alliance and we are a certified educational institution by Employment and Social Development Canada and can therefore issue Tuition Tax Receipts for qualified programs.

Restorative Yoga Teacher Training – Foundation

Our body needs rest.
Join Anne Wanda Tessier, an experienced restorative yoga teacher and trainer for this 30-hour foundational Restorative Yoga Teacher Training and learn about the benefits of rest on the body, mind, and nervous system.
Everyone experiences various levels of stress in our daily lives, from having too much on our to-do lists, navigating through big life changes and challenging situations, or experiencing stressful environmental and physical conditions. We can sometimes feel overwhelmed, tired, depleted, or even burnt out. We need to rest.
Restorative yoga is a style of yoga which uses props to support the body in various poses to help the body relax and to facilitate health and overall well–being. This practice is useful to soothe the nervous system, help reduce anxiety and stress, and bring the body back to a state of calm where the body functions properly. It is an opportunity to find balance in our busy lives.
Through direct experience, practice teaching and feedback, you leave this training with the ability to confidently teach a restorative class and learn how you can incorporate restorative yoga in your personal practice.

Yin Yoga Teacher Training – Part 2
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time than in other styles. The sequences of postures are meant to stimulate the channels of the subtle body known as meridians in Chinese medicine and as nadis in Hatha yoga.
- Understanding the Meridian System and Qi and how it relates to the practice of Yin Yoga;
- Experiencing acupuncture to further appreciate the Meridian System and Qi;
- Developing a meditative state through the practice of Yin Yoga and Mindfulness;
- Exploring additional postures including contraindications, modifications and alternatives, the use of props and counter poses;
- Sequencing for Yin Yoga classes for specific themes and needs.
Introduction to Sanskrit: The Sacred Language of Yoga
In this course you will gain familiarity with the Sanskrit language through study of common words, pronunciations and common mispronunciations. Learn how to use potentially unfamiliar words with grace and smoothness to help students gain further understanding of the practice. We will explore the alphabet, its design and how it is written in the roman alphabet. Like this it will be easier to create the proper pronunciation as you read words and texts in transliterated Sanskrit.
The course will explore how to incorporate Sanskrit words into the theme of your class. This allows students to learn more words and also concepts that can deepen their practice. For example, how to use ahimsa or viveka as a theme that can carry through a class. Sanskrit Mantras: Om and beyond. We will learn several mantras, their meanings, stories and how to incorporate them into a class.

Yoga Nidra Training
Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, is a type of meditation based on the ancient yogic anatomy of the Koshas, the 5 subtle bodies. Sometimes described as a long savasana, it is actually a combination of deep body relaxation and mental awareness.
Yoga Nidra is a quiet journey inward to stillness that transforms and releases old habits, fatigue, worry, and stress. Yoga Nidra is a technique for physical rejuvenation, mental relaxation, spiritual growth, and overall wellness.
This training is for those who would like to offer students the opportunity to experience a systematic method of conscious relaxation. Yoga Nidra has been found to be effective in treating many of the physical symptoms of stress, including insomnia, anxiety, and depression. It is also helpful in the treatment of PTSD and addictions.
During our weekend together, we will:
- Explore the science, philosophy and practice of Yoga Nidra.
- Gain a solid understanding of how this practice can assist different populations.
- Learn how to practically present Yoga Nidra sessions in both group and individualized settings.
This introductory course is suitable for all Yoga students, Yoga Teachers, wellness instructors, mental health counselors, doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and other health care professionals.

PranaShanti Yoga Centre’s 300 Hour Program is a comprehensive course of study that delves deeply into all aspects of Yoga to build on the knowledge and skills developed at the 200-Hour Level. This self-paced modular approach to advanced Yogic education allows you to customize a pathway based on your own unique needs.
We believe that studying with a variety of highly trained teachers increases everyone’s knowledge and depth of experience. Our dedicated and skilled faculty deliver a well-rounded curriculum that enables you to refine your expertise in particular areas of interest due to their areas of specialization.
You are welcome to start taking 300 Hour Level courses and formally enroll in the program at any time throughout the year.

Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training 200 Hour
Kundalini Yoga and Meditation focuses on the movement of energy in the body. The style of practice used in Kundalini Yoga and Meditation allows for people of all ages and levels of mobility to have a powerful experience through the combination of simple rhythmic exercises, yoga postures, breathwork, and meditation techniques including sound and mantra.
Kundalini Yoga also has a direct impact on the major systems in the body, particularly the glandular and nervous systems. When these systems are activated and strengthened we can better manage the stresses of daily life, create greater peace of mind and improve our overall health and well-being.
During our time together you will become immersed in, and learn how to teach Kundalini Yoga and Meditation. With this program you will be able to teach confidently whether online or in-person. Upon successful completion you be able to teach yoga to people in your community, your family, the workplace and anywhere in the world.

Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training 300 Hour – Authentic Relationships
Our entire life experience unfolds within the matrix of our relationships and is the key to all our success. When we live in authentic relationships we embrace our true identity and our infinite nature. From this place we can consciously connect to the divine in others and create an authentic relationship that serves and elevates both our self and others.
Integrate authentic relationships into your life and your teaching. Explore and understand how we form, sustain and honor relationships. Our success as Kundalini Yoga teachers and as conscious human beings depends on our capacity to be authentic and respond from our hearts; our primary objective is to examine our relationships and improve our effectiveness, authenticity and awareness within them.
Our Teaching Assistant Program is an opportunity for yoga teachers who want to make a difference for the participants in the training.
As an assistant to the training you will deepen your teaching practice, advance your yoga knowledge and gain more confidence and experience in your presentation and teaching skills.
Many of our teaching assistants also join our sub teaching roster or teach classes on our regular class schedule, lead class series or offer workshops.
We recognise that Yoga Teacher Training is a life commitment and that it can also present financial challenges.
Since 2008, through the generosity of donations and believing in the concept of serving your community, we have been offering exchange positions for our 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training and 200-hour Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Programs.
