The full moon is a special time, especially for those who are following a yogic path, because it is an optimum time for clearing and balancing our mind and our energy.

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time than in other styles. The sequences of postures are meant to stimulate the channels of the subtle body known as meridians in Chinese medicine and as nadis in Hatha yoga.
Yin Yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fasciae, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, its goals are awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality.
Yin Yoga was founded in the late 1970s by martial arts expert and yoga teacher Paulie Zink Taoist yoga (Tao Yin) and has been gaining in popularity ever since.
Building on our Yin Yoga Teacher Training Foundations course, we will guide you to discover deeper facets of this quiet practice:
Understanding the Meridian System and Qi and how it relates to the practice of Yin Yoga;
Experiencing acupuncture to further appreciate the Meridian System and Qi;
Developing a meditative state through the practice of Yin Yoga and Mindfulness;
Exploring additional postures including contraindications, modifications and alternatives, the use of props and counter poses;
Sequencing for Yin Yoga classes for specific themes and needs.

Discover the ancient art of sound healing in this unique Breathwork Sound Immersion experience led by Devinder. This practice uses the transformative power of breath and sound to promote deep relaxation, emotional release, and pain relief.
In this 60-minute class, you'll be guided through a soothing journey of conscious breathing, complemented by the rich, ambient sounds of gongs and other instruments. As you lie comfortably in savasana (corpse pose) on your yoga mat, Devinder's calming voice and the resonant vibrations of the gongs will envelop you, helping to balance your nervous system and alleviate stress.
Our warmly heated studio, the Body Room, will be set with dimmed lighting to create a restful environment. Yoga blocks, blankets, and bolsters are available for your comfort, but feel free to bring any additional props you need to fully unwind.
Whether you’re seeking to reduce stress, release tension, or enhance your overall well-being, this session offers a powerful and restorative experience. Each class is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the healing soundscape and emerge feeling renewed.

Do you experience tightness in your upper back and shoulders?
From our hard-to-avoid modern day seated postures to the repetitive motions we do with our arms, it's easy for the upper back and shoulders to tighten up and crunch, leaving us stiff and achy.
Helping our fascia is the key to freeing up these areas of chronic stuck stress, and the MELT Method is designed to do just that. The MELT Method uses soft foam rollers, soft balls, and a series of techniques to rehydrate fascial tissue for easing pain, reducing inflammation, and supporting optimal joint function. This 1-hour workshop will give full focus to our upper back and shoulders, using multiple techniques to rehydrate the fascial tissue in these regions.
Date and Time: Sunday, September 29, 2024, 2 pm - 3 pm.
Cost: $40.00 per person in-advance, $45.00 per person day of.
Maximum of 12 participants.
Location: PranaShanti Yoga Centre, 950 Gladstone Ave., Ottawa, ON. Studio: Soul Room.
About Rachel:
Rachel Lipton is a certified MELT Method® Instructor with a regular (and enthused) at-home practice. She teaches 1:1 MELT lessons out of her community acupuncture studio with the goal of helping others manage their chronic pain and tension.
“I found MELT during the pandemic while trying to find a cost-effective way to manage my posture-based pain and tension areas. After practicing for two years, and using it while training for a short tri-athalon, I decided I couldn’t keep it to myself any longer! As a registered acupuncturist, I found the overlap between fascial function and the ancient Chinese meridians thrilling. I’m delighted to be sharing this method with the Ottawa community.”
