Yoga can offer amazing benefits for pregnancy, labour and parenthood; however, there are things that yoga teachers and practitioners need to know!
This comprehensive training weekend is open to anyone interested in working with this population, including yoga teachers, fitness instructors, doulas and other health professionals, as well as parents-to-be. We will look at practices for each stage of the pre & post-natal journey, including fertility, pregnancy and labour, postpartum recovery, and pregnancy loss. 

By taking this training, you are not only “teaching yoga”, you are helping people with their pregnancy and aiding in their recovery!

Get ready to have fun and learn interesting things such as:
 
  • The “Yoga Toolbox” and other complimentary practices to help with pregnancy & prepare for birth
  • The science of pain and tools to manage it
  • The importance of the postpartum period and the significance of “rest, restore & recover”
  • C-section and birth scar care
  • Pelvic floor health and how it affects breathing and posture
  • We even discuss birth partners and their role in all of this. It’s more than you think!

  • Anatomy and physiology related to Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga
  • Benefits of yoga for fertility, pregnancy, labour, postpartum, and parenthood
  • Teaching yoga classes for this population and adapting any class to meet the needs of prenatal and postnatal people (i.e.. best practices, things to avoid, modifications and contraindications)
  • Tools such as breathwork, postures, meditation, etc. for pregnancy, labour and postpartum period
  • Symptoms & conditions related to pregnancy and postnatal period incl. core and pelvic health
  • Teacher ethics & scope of practice
  • Business and marketing in this field
  • Other topics incl. birth partners & spouses, partner yoga for pregnancy & labour, parent & baby yoga, and complimentary practices

Learning Objectives

  • Ability to confidently and safely teach prenatal and postnatal yoga classes.
  • Capacity to tailor any style of class or practice for pregnant and postnatal people.
  • Be able to understand and address prenatal and postnatal conditions, including practices that can help and things to avoid.

Note

This course is open to the general public. 6 months to 1 year of regular yoga practice is recommended for participation.

For 200 Hour certified Yoga Teachers this course provides CEUs with Yoga Alliance.
