Ego says, "Once everything falls into place, I'll feel peace." Spirit says, "Find your peace, and then everything will fall into place." - Marianne Williamson We don't need all the answers right now. Start with peace and the rest will fall into place...and likely in better ways than you could have ever imagined! When COVID hit and we were mandated to close, I went home and sat on my couch for a deep think! What will we do? How will we continue to support the students, teachers and staff? The answer - we go online and we go online right now! In less than 3 days from closure we were offering FREE live stream classes to the community and to the world! Teachers were paid and we were able to retain some staff. We kept the FREE classes going for 5 weeks! Hundreds joined in daily from around the world. Then the next reality sunk in that we are in...

Our NEW hOMe!

July 23, 2020December 12, 2020 by Devinder KaurNo Comments

Where is our new hOMe? Many have been wondering. We've had tonnes of emails and social media questions about it and I've even heard there was a bet or 2 going! Drum roll please... Our new location is 950 Gladstone Avenue! We are thrilled and trust you will love it too! The location is central, close to the newest LRT, has free 3 hour street parking and designated parking for our use. We are easy walking distance to the restaurants on Preston Street and the shops and cafes we adore on Wellington Street. Our new hOMe was built in the late 1800's as a wholesale hardware warehouse. Built on a timber frame with post and beam construction, it is one of the only buildings of its kind remaining in Ottawa. We will have 3 studio rooms; Body, Mind and Soul. There are large windows, high ceiling and lots of interesting architectural features. It's a COVID-19 good news story with a fresh energy for a new...

July 17, 2020September 15, 2025 by Devinder KaurNo Comments

Greetings, It's been a long wait and we are deeply grateful for all of the support we have received over the past 4 months that has allowed for us to continue to serve the Ottawa community and beyond. We’re excited to share that we are re-opening for In Person Classes on Saturday, August 1. Attendance at our In Person classes will follow our current Virtual Class Schedule until we move into our new hOMe! In Person classes will be held at our temporary location at 45 Eccles Street, Ottawa, Ontario. The safety and health of our staff, teachers and students is very important to us. We are taking the time between now and August 1st to observe how our city responds to the re-openings and so we can be fully prepared with the necessary protocols in place. During the Stage 3 we are re-opening with: Reduced capacity for In Person class attendance to respect social distancing guidelines; Increased cleaning and updated safety procedures; Updated...

We’re Moving!

June 18, 2020December 12, 2020 by Devinder KaurNo Comments

Greetings! We're moving! COVID is bringing many changes and one of those changes is that we have found the most amazing new location for PranaShanti Yoga Centre and yes, we will still be in the 'hood. It's a dream location for yoga, workshops, courses and trainings! During COVID our lease came to an end. While we have very much enjoyed our time on Armstrong Street, it became clear during COVID that we need to fully embrace the change that this time has created. Shortly after making the decision to relocate the perfect new space presented itself! With a fabulous designer and construction team, we are well into creating a beautiful new PranaShanti that will be ready for us soon. Our new space will continue to offer multi studio rooms and wellness services but we will be incorporating many of the lessons learned from 12 years plus new ones from COVID. The new space has an abundance of natural light, high ceilings, spaciousness,...

Community connection has and will always be an important part of PranaShanti Yoga Centre's vision and mission. With the government mandated temporary closure of PranaShanti Yoga Centre on March 17, we quickly pivoted and on March 19 launched FREE Online Classes as our way to be of service to the community when so many faced uncertainty from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We have now offered 1 month of FREE Online Yoga that has reached hundreds of people around the world everyday. We’ve had participants from as far as Egypt, New Zealand, Australia, Roatan, Bali, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, all across Canada and the US! We've received daily email and social media posts on how the yoga classes are a vital support to so many in this challenge time. While the classes over this past month have been free of charge, we have continued to pay the teachers. We are deeply grateful for the support that so many have...

Live Stream Yoga Education

April 12, 2020April 20, 2021 by Devinder KaurNo Comments

Study with the PranaShanti Teachers at home! We believe that in learning, there is life. In self-discovery, there is growth and the shedding of practices and beliefs that no longer serve us. We want to offer everyone the opportunity to know themselves better through comprehensive programs that serve the personal journey and the professional one. We want you to explore; whether it is yoga, your profession or your deepest self. In response to the COVID-19 situation and to meet the needs of our current student body, we have made the shift to offer Online Live Stream study as part of our training curriculum. We believe that the addition of Online Live Stream trainings and courses in addition to our In-Person formats will allow us to better serve our current and future students’ needs. After many years of requests for Online study options, we have also come to understand and appreciate that it’s not always possible to commit to an In-Person course due...
