“Learning to be present with yourself and to abide in that which is steady and comfortable does not allow space for self-judgment. When you live this way, you are practicing yoga: you are living fully.”
– Judith Hanson Lasater

Introduction to Yoga Therapy

For ALL Yoga Teachers and Students!
Yoga therapy is “the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalized assessment, goal setting, lifestyle management and yoga practices for individuals or small groups.” (IAYT).

A Yoga Therapist is trained in the skills and practices needed for the therapeutic application of yoga principles and practices, for example asana, pranayama, the five koshas model, meditation, and understanding of yoga philosophy for self-awareness.

This point in time represents an exciting opportunity for yoga therapy! Yoga therapy is a relatively new profession that is gaining awareness and recognition as an effective healing modality. Yoga therapy is integrative and complements other healing modalities, including Western practices.

A Yoga Therapist may be one part of a person’s health and healing team. Yoga Therapists are trained to meet their client where they are and support their individual healing and wellness needs regardless of age, gender, health history, physical, or mental ability. Yoga Therapy supports physical, energetic, emotional, spiritual, and mental well-being.

This course is the first course in the 800 Hour PranaShanti Yoga Therapy Program and is designed to introduce students to the foundations of Yoga Therapy, the role of the Yoga Therapist, the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), and to PranaShanti’s Yoga Therapy Program.

For all Yoga Students and Teachers!
The Sanskrit language has a power like no other. Each word creates a specific vibration in the mind which is the essence of that word. Using Sanskrit terms in your class will resonate directly with the students on a level that is beyond the physical senses. Incorporating Sanskrit into your classes can be as simple as adding the names of a few postures to exploring philosophy with several terms.

In this course you will gain familiarity with the Sanskrit language through study of common words, pronunciations and common mispronunciations. Learn how to use potentially unfamiliar words with grace and smoothness to help students gain further understanding of the practice. We will explore the alphabet, its design and how it is written in the roman alphabet. Like this it will be easier to create the proper pronunciation as you read words and texts in transliterated Sanskrit.

Chair Yoga Training
For ALL Yoga Teachers and Students!

Chair Yoga adapts traditional yoga poses so that they can be done with a chair for support, making yoga more accessible for all people.

Our society is aging and there are many people unable to practice a standard yoga class. Chair yoga also provides a gentle but effective practice for those with mobility or disability issues.

The chair takes the place of the yoga mat, and poses are seated or supported by the chair. You get a warm-up, stretching and strengthening, whether you’re coming off a sports injury, challenged by the physical limits of aging, or have been sitting for too many hours at your desk.

Practiced on a daily basis, meditation produces profound results on all levels of your being—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. It connects you with your own inner powers of vitality, clarity, and peace.

Restorative Yoga – Level 1
For ALL Yoga Teachers and Students!
Our body needs rest! Join Anne Wanda Tessier, an experienced restorative yoga teacher and trainer for this 20-hour foundational Restorative Yoga Teacher Training and learn about the benefits of rest on the body, mind, and nervous system.

Everyone experiences various levels of stress in our daily lives, from having too much on our to-do lists, navigating through big life changes and challenging situations, or experiencing stressful environmental and physical conditions. We can sometimes feel overwhelmed, tired, depleted, or even burnt out. We need to rest.

Restorative yoga is a style of yoga which uses props to support the body in various poses to help the body relax and to facilitate health and overall well-being. This practice is useful to soothe the nervous system, help reduce anxiety and stress, and bring the body back to a state of calm where the body functions properly. It is an opportunity to find balance in our busy lives.

Through direct experience, practice teaching and feedback, you leave this training with the ability to confidently teach a restorative class and learn how you can incorporate restorative yoga in your personal practice.
