Restorative Yoga Training

For ALL Yoga Teachers and Students!

When the body is fully supported, it will naturally relax, releasing deeply held tensions. Restorative yoga is the yoga of non-doing, and focuses on effortlessness and ease, using well-placed blankets, bolsters, yoga straps, and chairs to safely support the body in various postures. This process invokes a natural state of balance, replenishment, and healing rest.

Course Outline

During this program, learn a set of restorative postures, complemented with gentle stretching, breathing, and meditation. Learn the benefits of restorative yoga on the body, mind and soul, and its effect on the organs and the nervous system.

Through direct experience, practice teaching, and feedback, you leave with the ability to confidently teach a primary series of restorative poses to your students as well as incorporate them into your own practice.

In this training your will learn:

  • A variety of restorative yoga poses to calm and restore the body
  • How to use props to fully support the body
  • How the spine is linked to the health of the organs
  • The nervous system: para-sympathetic vs. sympathetic
  • How to elicit the relaxation response
  • Breathing techniques and guided meditations
  • Sequencing and themes for a restorative yoga class
  • Conditions for calm
  • The effects of stress on the body, and the benefits of finding calm
  • The art of touch
  • In-depth discussions on support, finding ease, comfort, giving and receiving, and using your intuition
  • Benefits and contra-indications for a variety of poses
  • Poses for various health conditions (I.e. anxiety, depression, fatigue, chronic pain, back pain, digestive, heart, lung, liver, circulatory, and reproduction imbalances)
  • Poses for emotional healing (soothing anger, grief, stress, anxiety)

At the end of the course, you receive a certificate for your completion of this 25-hour training.

Students, that are already 200-hour trained Yoga Teachers, will have the option to obtain additional certification, by completing a project to be submitted within 12 weeks after the training.  There will be an additional fee of $50.00 to for the marking of this project and certification.  This project is highly beneficial for learning the benefits and contraindications of restorative yoga poses, and well as selecting poses based on various health conditions.

Friday, March 22 to Sunday, March 24, 2019.

The training hours are:

  • Friday 9 am – 6 pm
  • Saturday 9 am – 6 pm
  • Sunday 9 am – 6 pm

Cost and Registration

Anne Up the Wall$425.00 per person. SAVE $75.00 by registering on or before December 31, 2018 for $350.00 per person.

Fee includes the training, handouts and a certificate.

For 200-hour trained Yoga Teachers interested in a certificate for Restorative Yoga Teacher Training – 30 Hour an additional hand in project is available. The project will be reviewed and marked by Anne.

Optional Hand In Project: $50.00 per person, non-refundable.

For 200 hour certified Yoga Teachers this course provides CEUs with Yoga Alliance.

Note: This course is open to general public. 6 months to 1 year of regular yoga practice is recommended for participation.

PranaShanti Yoga Centre will have many props available but it would be beneficial to have your own so you can experience each pose fully. Please bring a bolster, 2 blocks, 3-5 blankets, yoga strap, small towel and eye pillow if you have them or purchase props at the Centre.

About Your Teacher

Anne Tessier is a teacher that is passionate about the healing benefits of Yoga and in particular, Restorative Yoga. Life’s daily routines can be overwhelming, and Anne finds that yoga can help you find balance, restore the body and find calm day-to-day and during unexpected challenges. She is has studied extensively with Judith Lasater and is a certified Relax and Renew® Restorative Yoga Teacher and offers group and individual classes based on your current situation.
