Respect for Community
At PranaShanti Yoga Centre:
- We honour the ancient roots of yoga. All yogic traditions and paths are respected.
- We work to build a welcoming and inclusive environment for the exploration and study of yoga.
- We believe that yoga is for everyone.
- We value both self-care and community care.
As a community of dedicated yoga practitioners, we are committed to:
- Putting compassion in action through donations to local organizations, including the Parkdale Food Centre and Jaku Konbit, to support folks in our city.
- Raising awareness about the barriers faced by marginalized communities and working to promote fairness by addressing different needs.
- Featuring the diversity of yogis making an impact on and off the mat in our messaging and marketing materials because representation matters.
We aim to create an environment that invites participation from people of all races, social or economic status, ethnicities, genders, ages, abilities, religions, and sexual orientation free from discrimination, patronisation and harassment.
Equality, diversity, and inclusion are important to all of us at PranaShanti Yoga Centre. For us:
- Equality is about removing biases and obstacles that impede equal access.
- Diversity is about progressing towards a community that reflects the diversity of our society.
- Inclusion is about creating programs and an environment that is free from discrimination, where every participant is welcome, included and respected.
We understand this is an ongoing process that requires shared effort. We are actively working on organizational development, outreach and engagement. Here are some ways you can contribute to the Centre’s ongoing evolution:
- Recommend Teachers and Presenters to us by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Let people know that we offer a variety of opportunities to participate at the Centre, including Student and Senior Discounts, Seva (Volunteer) Program, Work Exchange and Scholarship Programs.
- Share best practices with us for increasing the inclusion of marginalized groups by sending us an email at email@example.com.
To minimise outdoor weather from traveling into the Centre, please remove your shoes when you enter the Centre and store them in the reception area. You are welcome to bring and wear indoor shoes, sandals or flip flops.
In order to maintain a peaceful relaxing and healing environment for everyone, please turn off cell phone and smartphone ringers and refrain from speaking on and using electronics in the Yoga Centre.
Due to health concerns arising from exposure to scented products, PranaShanti is committed to providing a fragrance-free environment. Please be mindful of using any perfumes, creams or cleaning products that may be scented.
