Everyone experiences various levels of stress in our daily lives, from having too much on our to-do lists, navigating through big life changes and challenging situations, or experiencing stressful environmental and physical conditions. We can sometimes feel overwhelmed, tired, depleted, or even burnt out. We need to rest.
Restorative yoga is a style of yoga which uses props to support the body in various poses to help the body relax and to facilitate health and overall well-being. This practice is useful to soothe the nervous system, help reduce anxiety and stress, and bring the body back to a state of calm where the body functions properly. It is an opportunity to find balance in our busy lives.
Through direct experience, practice teaching and feedback, you leave this training with the ability to confidently teach a restorative class and learn how you can incorporate restorative yoga in your personal practice.

Restorative yoga poses for various health conditions: menopause, digestion, headaches, insomnia, ADHD, tech-neck, reproduction, immune function, muscle tension, respiratory and heart conditions, chronic pain, back tension, circulation, etc.;
Variations on the use of props and support for ALL body types;
Practice setting up poses on others and yourself;
Contraindications for restorative yoga poses;
Modifications and use of props for various injuries;

If you live away from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and would like printed training materials to be sent to you, please ensure you sign up at least 10 days before the course start date in order for us to ship the materials to you. Otherwise e-documents will be provided, where possible.
Please have and/or bring with you your own props (a bolster, 2 yoga straps, 2 blocks, 6 blankets) and eye pillow, if you have them.
This course is open to the general public. 6 months to 1 year of regular yoga practice is recommended for participation.
For 200 Hour certified Yoga Teachers this course provides CEUs with Yoga Alliance.

Our 3,000 square foot Education Centre offers a large open concept training area with high ceilings and an abundance of natural light and excellent ventilation. There is a kitchen with fridge, microwave, kettle and dishware. We have a dining area with tables and chairs, 2 gender neutral bathrooms, and our Administration Office.
This course introduces the basic guiding philosophies and methodologies of yoga including it roots, lineages and originating philosophy. Discover the evolution of the teachings and philosophy of the yoga tradition; The Yoga Sutras on Healing, Lessons from Patanjali, and their relevance and application to yoga therapy, including teachings from Vedic and post-Vedic periods, Samkhya, Yoga, Tantra, and Ayurveda are introduced.
Learn how the Yoga tradition is woven into Yoga Therapy through group discussions, readings and individual exploration.
