Chair Yoga adapts traditional yoga poses so that they can be done with a chair for support, making yoga more accessible for all people.
Our society is aging and there are many people unable to practice a standard yoga class. Chair yoga also provides a gentle but effective practice for those with mobility or disability issues.
The chair takes the place of the yoga mat, and poses are seated or supported by the chair. You get a warm-up, stretching and strengthening, whether you're coming off a sports injury, challenged by the physical limits of aging, or have been sitting for too many hours at your desk.
Program Outline:
This program will offer you the tools to help you and/or your students build strength, awareness and confidence as well as to increase well-being both physically and mentally.
Learn how to work with this ever growing group who can get so much benefit from the practice of yoga with the assistance of a chair!

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time than in other styles. The sequences of postures are meant to stimulate the channels of the subtle body known as meridians in Chinese medicine and as nadis in Hatha yoga.
Yin Yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fasciae, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, its goals are awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality.
Yin Yoga was founded in the late 1970s by martial arts expert and yoga teacher Paulie Zink. Taoist yoga (Tao Yin) and has been gaining in popularity ever since.
Building on our Yin Yoga Teacher Training Foundations course, we will guide you to further explore this quiet practice:

Experiencing acupuncture to further appreciate the Meridian System and Qi;
Developing a meditative state through the practice of Yin Yoga and Mindfulness;

The MELT Method is a fascia-focused technique designed to ease chronic tension, pain, and inflammation. Chronic postures and movements dehydrate fascia, creating chronic tense areas in our body.
This workshop focuses on releasing tension and pain in the jaw and neck - areas of so much stuck stress! Techniques for restoring neural-fascial communication though the nervous system will also be incorporated, inviting in a full-body relaxing effect.

Maximum of 12 participants.
Location: PranaShanti Yoga Centre, 950 Gladstone Ave., Ottawa, ON. Studio: Soul Room.
About Rachel:
Rachel Lipton is a Level 2 MELT Method® Instructor and Registered Acupuncturist.
“I found MELT during the pandemic while trying to find a cost-effective way to manage my posture-based pain and tension areas. After practicing for two years, and using it while training for a short tri-athalon, I decided I couldn’t keep it to myself any longer! As a registered acupuncturist, I found the overlap between fascial function and the ancient Chinese meridians thrilling. I’m delighted to be sharing this method with the Ottawa community.”

Shamanic Journey to retrieve ancestral gifts, wisdom, and strength
Andean Gratitude Ceremony to honour your lineage
Modern science confirms what ancient traditions have long known: trauma lives in the body and can be passed through generations. So too can strength, resilience, and deep wisdom.
If you are ready to break free from inherited limitations, heal long-held emotional patterns, reconnect with your roots, and reclaim your soul’s inheritance—this sacred journey is calling you.
Transform the past. Empower the present. Bless the future.
