Full Moon Meditation for Clearing & Balance

    Sunday, October 9th, 9:30am - 10:45am
Full Moon Meditation for Clearing & Balance

    Online or In-Person

The full moon is a special time, especially for those who are following a yogic path, because it is an optimum time for clearing and balancing our mind and our energy.

The moon is deeply and intimately connected with our mind and our thoughts. Meditation can help to cleanse feelings of agitation, and can even provide us with a great opportunity to let go of the mental or emotional baggage that has been weighing us down.

Meditating at the full moon also help us to unleash our creativity, whether we are focused on specific creative projects or we need new ways of thinking about the problems and issues we are facing. This practice can help us to release old, stuck, energy that no longer serves us.

During the class, we will clear our mind and balance our body’s chakras (energy centers) through a variety of Kundalini Yoga practices including breath work (pranayam), meditation, and a yoga nidra savasana (relaxation).

Your Brain on Yoga: The Neuroscience of Love, Peace and Wellbeing | In-Person

    Saturday, October 15th, 8:00am - 4:00pm
Your Brain on Yoga: The Neuroscience of Love, Peace and Wellbeing | In-Person
    In-Person Master Class

with Eileen Harris, Ph.D. and Stéphane Ippersiel

Did you know that yoga has the power to change the very structure of your brain? Come discover what happens in your brain during your practice. Learn how to use its abilities more effectively to bring about positive change. Your Brain on Yoga presents current research that demonstrates the physical, physiological and psychological benefits of yoga—benefits that extend beyond our selves to those around us.

For centuries, ancient yogis have observed that yoga improves one’s attitude and outlook on life. Yoga challenges the yogi physically and mentally, nudging to explore what is beyond their comfort zone. We know that yoga improves our physical wellbeing, but does the practice of yoga affect the yogi’s brain? Absolutely!

This Master Class combines science with practical, insightful exercises and mindful movement. Experience how yoga as mindful meditation can lead to a fuller life and greater happiness.

    We will cover:

Brain Basics: How the brain functions and how it can be “re-wired” to adapt to changing circumstances. This is a general overview and no prior knowledge is required.

Benefits of yoga on the brain: Yoga challenges the yogi physically and mentally, nudging the yogi to explore what is beyond their comfort zone. How does the practice of yoga affect the yogi’s brain? What are the immediate effects on the brain, and do these effects persist?

This Master Class will explore some of the benefits of yoga and how they affect the brain, namely:

    1. Clarity: What is clarity? Why do our minds feel foggy at times? Can we train our brain to help us become more focused?
    2. Gratitude: What is gratitude? Is there a difference between giving gratitude and receiving expressions of gratitude? Can gratitude change the brain? And if so, what effect does that have on our bodies and minds?
    3. Compassion: What is compassion, towards self and others? The paradox of connection. How is compassion experienced in the brain?

Cost: $295.00 per person before August 31, 2022, $325.00 per person thereafter.

This is an In-Person ONLY session. Fee includes a journal booklet.

    About Your Teachers:

Eileen Harris, Ph.D., is a graduate of McGill University. Her enthusiasm for the practical application of brain research to everyday life is contagious. She presents compelling scientific evidence that yoga and meditation can change our brains and, our lives.

Eileen's seriously playful workshops guarantee many “aha” moments, as well as the development of new skills that lead to meaningful outcomes. Her knowledgeable and inspired approach draws on extensive experience as an international presenter, researcher, teacher, coach and creativity trainer.

Stéphane Ippersiel (e-RYT) is all about balance. When teaching yoga, he strives for a “just right” combination of Yin and Yang—a balance that shifts depending on the energy present in the room. He brings a strong, unhurried presence and a solid foundational teaching style to every class, making for a well-framed and accepting environment for students.

Stéphane prefers to place the accent on fundamentals: a solid connection to the earth, alignment that considers the uniqueness of our bodies, and relaxed breathing.

    Tuesday, October 18th to Tuesday, November 15th, 6:00pm - 9:00pm
    The Energetic Anatomy of Yoga
    Online and/or In-Person Course

Everything is energy, including us. As solid and dense as our physical bodies may seem, when we observe the very particles that make up matter, atoms, we find mostly empty space. What is this space comprised of? What is the animating force that underlies physical reality, and can we become aware of and consciously direct this energy for greater health, emotional balance, mental well-being and spiritual development?

As yoga practitioners, we can explore, become familiar with and have an immediate impact on our energetic or subtle body through various techniques such as asana (postures), pranayama (breathwork), mudras (hand gestures), mantras (repetition of sacred sounds or words) and meditation.

The state of our energy or subtle body affects everything from our physical health to our emotional and mental well-being, our sense of connection with others and the clarity (or lack thereof) of our purpose in life. In this course, we will examine the main yogic concepts of the subtle body: the koshas, prana vayus, nadis, chakras and five elements. We will explore these topics with a combination of practical exercises, discussion and theory.

This training is designed for yoga teachers, yoga practitioners, and all those wanting to learn more about the subtle body and its important role in physical, mental and emotional health, and as a powerful tool for spiritual evolution.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Gain a deeper understanding of the elements comprising our subtle anatomy: koshas, prana vayus, nadis, chakras and five elements.
    • Learn practical exercices you can use to develop an awareness of the subtle body, and how to integrate these into your yoga practice and teaching.
    • Gain insight into how to integrate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being through working with the subtle body.

    Dates and Timings:

    Tuesday, October 18, 2022 to November 15, 2022

    Mudras for Health and Healing

"What more shall I tell thee? There is nothing in this world like mudras for giving quick success (along the spiritual path).” – Gheranda Samhita

Enjoy an immersive experience dedicated to learning about the ancient art and science of mudra. Mudras are gestures of the hands and body that are consciously used to "seal" or attune to specific energy frequencies. Mudras originated with the sages of India and works of art depicting these gestures communicate their importance through the ages.

We will demystify mudras as a vehicle to promote balance on all dimensions and awaken essential qualities, such as stillness, centering, alignment, and expansiveness.

The mini-course will also cover these three mudra families to build capacity for self-regulation and resilience:

    1. Hasta Mudras to expand awareness;
    2. Sharira Mudras to awaken the breath;
    3. Merudanda Mudras to balance your energy levels.

Information will be shared to understand how mudras work and the effects of each gesture on your physical and subtle systems. Ways to integrate mudras into your regular yoga practice will also be discussed.

    The Energetic Anatomy of Yoga
