Melissa attained her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with PranaShanti. Melissa is a dedicated individual who is devoted both to her own personal practice, as well as that of her students. She is always expanding her mind and learning more about yoga, mindfulness and the many splendors this practice has to offer, as she believes that the journey as a student is a lifelong one. Melissa is thrilled to be new to the teaching world and to be given the opportunity to guide humans from all walks of life as a teacher. Her goal is to guide students through the journey towards the self and create a space where one can connect with their body, soul and spirit. Melissa lives by the motto “quiet the mind – open the heart” and hopes to demonstrate the many ways she has found this possible, with yoga practice. As a true water-sign, she aligns with the belief that strength is found in vulnerability.
Melissa comes from a background in ballet and has approximately 5 years of yoga practice. Combining her background in dance and her experience in Pilates and Barre, Melissa hopes to incorporate these into her practice, creating a unique and amalgamated flow. Having studied neuroscience and anatomy in University, Melissa is very interested in the effects of mindfulness and meditation on overall health and brain chemistry. She specializes in Vinyasa (hip opening flow being her personal favorite), power and more. She enjoys chanting in her classes and is drawn to using sound healing.
