    Restorative Yoga Training

    Friday, February 2nd to Sunday, February 4th, 9:00am - 6:00pm
    Restorative Yoga Training

For ALL Yoga Teachers and Students!

When the body is fully supported, it will naturally relax, releasing deeply held tensions. Restorative yoga is the yoga of non-doing, and focuses on effortlessness and ease, using well-placed blankets, bolsters, yoga straps, and chairs to safely support the body in various postures. This process invokes a natural state of balance, replenishment, and healing rest.

During this program, learn a set of restorative postures, complemented with gentle stretching, breathing, and meditation. Learn the benefits of restorative yoga on the body, mind and soul, and its effect on the organs and the nervous system.

Through direct experience, practice teaching, and feedback, you leave with the ability to confidently teach a primary series of restorative poses to your students as well as incorporate them into your own practice.

At the end of the course, you receive a letter of attendance verifying your completion of this 25-hour training.

Students, that are already 200-hour trained Yoga Teachers, will have the option to obtain additional certification, by completing a project to be submitted within 12 weeks after the training. There will be an additional fee of $50.00 (non-refundable) to for the marking of this project and certification. This project is highly beneficial for learning the benefits and contraindications of restorative yoga poses, and well as selecting poses based on various health conditions.

Anne Tessier is a teacher that is passionate about the healing benefits of Yoga and in particular, Restorative Yoga. Kundalini Meditation Meet Up

    Saturday, February 3rd, 11:00am - 12:30pm
    Kundalini Meditation Meet Up

PranaShanti hosts quarterly Meditation Meet Ups for all KRI certified Kundalini Yoga Teachers, Teachers in Training and experienced students. This is a time to come together, to catch up with old friends and practice a meditation that helps to develop our caliber and projection.

In this Meditation Meet Up we will practice 62 minutes of the Master's Touch Meditation.

"Aad Sach, Jugaad Sach, Hai Bhee Sach, Naanak Hosee Bhee Sach"

This mantra translates as: "Primal Truth, True for all Time, True at this Instant, Oh Nanak, Forever True."

These are the four stages of truth that must prevail through one touch. It is recorded in the scriptures that this meditation is to be practiced for 2-1/2 hours. However, it is up to you how long you practice. This is a personal sadhana and does not replace group sadhana in the Amrit Vela."

    (Source: www.3ho.org/masters-touch-meditation)

62 minutes of meditation – changes the grey matter in the brain. The subconscious “shadow mind” and the outer projection are integrated.

Cost: A donation to the KRI Library of Teachings is gratefully accepted.

    X

New Moon Meditation for Prosperity & Abundance

    Thursday, February 15th, 5:45pm - 7:15pm
New Moon Meditation for Prosperity & Abundance

"Prosperity is a state produced immediately by the mind. When the sun comes out of the clouds, everything is lit. When the mind comes out of duality, prosperity is there."- Yogi Bhajan

Meditating at the time of the New Moon intensifies our intentions and makes it an ideal time to focus on prosperity (personal and business) and abundance using the energy of the New Moon combined with Kundalini Yoga kriyas and meditations.

Prosperity and abundance come in many forms.  When one’s internal attitude is out of alignment, it doesn’t matter what that person has or doesn’t have in the material world.  When we connect with an internal attitude of prosperity, we become like a magnet. The abundance of the universe flows to us.

Our class includes breath work (pranayam), a short yoga set (kriya) for awareness, a prosperity meditation followed by a deep relaxation (savasana) in the celestial sounds and vibrations of two Gongs.

Cost: PranaShanti Class Card or Drop-in Fee.

    X

    Workshop - Yin + Gong

    Thursday, February 22nd, 7:30pm - 9:00pm
    Workshop - Yin + Gong

    Connect. Breathe. Open.

Yin yoga is based on the Taoist principles of yin and yang - the opposite and complimentary concept with origins in nature. Yin is stable, balancing and cooling, while yang is moving, changing and heating. In the body, yin is represented by the stiffer connective tissues (ligaments, tendons and fascia) and yang by the more flexible muscles and blood.

Yin yoga is practiced passively with longer held poses (3-5 minutes) mainly focused on the lower body. This gives you an opportunity to open your body and turn inwards. In this all-levels practice, live gong music will allow you to release tension and soothe your nervous system. The vibrational nature of the gong is a re-aligning and dynamic experience.

This fusion of yoga and sound will bring you into greater connection with your body and breath and bring more ease into your life.

    Cost: $30.00 per person.

  • Creating Balance Sequencing a Yang + Yin Class
    X

Creating Balance Sequencing a Yang + Yin Class

    Friday, February 23rd, 1:00pm - 7:00pm
Creating Balance Sequencing a Yang + Yin Class

With Jenna Switzer and Stéphane Ippersiel

For ALL Yoga Teachers and Students!

Yang + Yin Yoga blends two styles of yoga into one practice to combine the benefits of dynamic sequences and standing postures with more passively held yoga poses.

Yang is the masculine principle – light, active, outward, moving, hot, retrospective. Yang Yoga builds on these principles and through traditional asana based practices helps us to strengthen and tone the body, improve flexibility and circulation, increase stamina, synchronize movement with breath, and remove tension and obstacles in the body to allow the breath and prana to flow.

Yin is the feminine principle – passive, receptive, reflective, cool, and introspective. Yin Yoga builds on these principles and helps to stimulate the meridians (energy channels) bringing balance to the organs in the body, improve flexibility and joint mobility, calm and balance the mind and body and reduce stress and anxiety. Yin yoga also works deeply on the connective tissues (fascia, tendons and ligaments).

In traditional yoga, this pair of complementary approaches is known as abhyasa (practice) and vairagya (dispassion). Together we will explore the combination of vigorous (yang) and passive (yin) postures to create balance in our personal practice and teaching.

    Dates and Times:

The course is held over 3 days, Friday, February 23 to Sunday, February 25, 2018.

    The hours each day are:

    • Friday, February 23, 2018: 1 pm to 7:00 pm

    • Sunday, February 25, 2018: 11:30 am to 6:30 pm

    Periodic breaks provided.

    Outline:

This 20-hour course is designed for yoga teachers and experienced yogis who want to understand the benefits of a mixed Yang + Yin class, who want to explore the possibilities of Yang + Yin and who want to develop creative sequences for well-balanced classes and personal practice.
