  • Pranayama, Sanskrit Language and Mantra
    X

    Pranayama, Sanskrit Language and Mantra

    Friday, November 2nd, 6:00pm - 9:00pm
    Pranayama, Sanskrit Language and Mantra

Vibrations start with sound, which in turn begins with the universal mantra OM.

To deepen your overall practice and raise your energy levels, learn to recognize Sanskrit letters and their associated pronunciations. Common mispronunciations that range from names of asanas to mantras will be shared.

The Mantra portion will expand again from Om to explore all the main types of mantras. The course will also teach how to use mantras in your asana and pranayama practice and as a practice of its own. Chanting mantras increases one’s vibratory level; this will be explored both philosophically and practically.

Pranayama, controlling ones energy, most often by controlling the breath is a purifying practice to help develop clear insights into one’s own self. The course will help participants create a regular practice to understand and deepen the experience of pranayama. There will be an in-depth study of the effects of pranayama on the body and mind, through both yogic and scientific approaches, with an emphasis on the classical texts of Hatha and Raja Yoga. Participants will be expected to practice and journal regularly between the two course weekends. Participants will also learn how to teach the practices.

    Learning Objectives:
    1. Ability to recognise letters in Sanskrit and their associated sounds.
    2. Deeper understanding of Mantra practice and philosophy.
    3. Gaining an understanding of Pranayama, as well as a proficiency in practicing and teaching it.

    X

New Moon Meditation for Prosperity & Abundance

    Thursday, November 8th, 5:45pm - 7:15pm
New Moon Meditation for Prosperity & Abundance

"Prosperity is a state produced immediately by the mind. When the sun comes out of the clouds, everything is lit. When the mind comes out of duality, prosperity is there."- Yogi Bhajan

Meditating at the time of the New Moon intensifies our intentions and makes it an ideal time to focus on prosperity (personal and business) and abundance using the energy of the New Moon combined with Kundalini Yoga kriyas and meditations. Prosperity and abundance come in many forms.

When one’s internal attitude is out of alignment, it doesn’t matter what that person has or doesn’t have in the material world.  When we connect with an internal attitude of prosperity, we become like a magnet. The abundance of the universe flows to us.

Our class includes breath work (pranayam), a short yoga set (kriya) for awareness, a prosperity meditation followed by a deep relaxation (savasana) in the celestial sounds and vibrations of two Gongs.

Cost: PranaShanti Class Card or Drop-in Fee.

Full Moon Meditation for Clearing & Balance

    Thursday, November 22nd, 5:45pm - 7:15pm
Full Moon Meditation for Clearing & Balance

The full moon is a special time, especially for those who are following a yogic path, because it is an optimum time for clearing and balancing our mind and our energy.

The moon is deeply and intimately connected with our mind and our thoughts. Meditation can help to cleanse feelings of agitation, and can even provide us with a great opportunity to let go of the mental or emotional baggage that has been weighing us down.

Meditating at the full moon also help us to unleash our creativity, whether we are focused on specific creative projects or we need new ways of thinking about the problems and issues we are facing. This practice can help us to release old, stuck, energy that no longer serves us.

During the class, we will clear our mind and balance our body’s chakras (energy centers) through a variety of Kundalini Yoga practices including breath work (pranayam), meditation, visualization, setting intentions, and a restorative sound bath with the symphonic Gong.

Cost: PranaShanti Class Card or Drop-in Fee.

  • Yoga of the Subtle Body
    X

    Yoga of the Subtle Body

    Friday, November 30th, 6:00pm - 9:00pm
    Yoga of the Subtle Body

Throughout the ages, diverse and widespread groups acknowledged that subtle energy orchestrates all of life. We are all unique vibratory beings, and awareness of energy can enable us to navigate life with greater ease.

Just as health is a reflection of unity, illness is a reflect ion of separation. From a yogic perspective, illness begins at a subtle level and ultimately manifests at the physical level. This course provides an overview of the Koshas (energetic sheaths) as a framework to understand the various levels of being that comprise the individual. Balance and integration of the Koshas as a whole cultivates wellness while imbalance within the Koshas and a lack of integration results in dis-ease.

More specifically, the training explores the systems that play a specific role in balancing overall flows of energy for an individual. The subtle body is composed of three systems: the Nadis (energy channels), the Prana Vayus (energy currents), and the Chakras (energy centres). This module focuses on all aspects of energetic anatomy, with particular attention to the Chakras.

Detailed theory is offered, however this course is largely experiential to promote embodied awareness of these concepts. Breath, movement and sound practices in combination with self- reflection support the learning process.

    Learning Objectives:
    1. Comprehend the fundamentals of your energetic anatomy to practice and teach from an integrated perspective.
    2. Understand how the subtle body is affected when using Pranayama, Asana, Mudra and Mantra to promote healing and transformation.
    3. Develop more skilfulness in applying these concepts to your personal practice or in teaching yoga classes
    Dates and Times:

    November 30 + December 1-2, 2018

    • Friday 6 pm to 9 pm
    • Saturday and Sunday 11:30 am to 6 pm (both days)

    Cost: $325.00 per person.

Note: This course is open to the general public. 6 months to 1 year of regular yoga practice is recommended for participation.
